Yummy Green Smoothie
Drinking your greens has never tasted so good!
This vibrant, nutrient-packed smoothie is perfect for breakfast or a mid-day snack. It’s easy to make—especially if you use pre-washed baby spinach—and gets its creamy texture from a frozen banana, which also helps mask any bitterness.
No fancy blender? No problem! A basic blender from most big stores (like Walmart) costs around $10 to $20, or you can use an immersion blender for a space-saving, convenient option.
Pro Tip:
When your bananas start to over-ripen, peel them, wrap them well in plastic wrap or baggies, and store them in the freezer. They’re perfect for smoothies!
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsweetened plant milk of your choice, or low-fat/skim milk
- 1 frozen banana (previously peeled)
- 1 cup chopped fresh or frozen fruit of your choice – a great way to use up softening berries, leftover pineapple, or wrinkly grapes!
- 2 cups fresh raw baby spinach
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a blender.
- Blend until smooth and creamy. If using frozen fruit, add a bit of warm water if needed. For an extra thick and frosty smoothie, toss in a couple of ice cubes.
Flavor Idea:
Try blending frozen mango with mixed berries—it's a delicious, refreshing combo!
Optional Add-Ins
Boost your smoothie’s nutrition with:
- 1 tbsp ground flaxseeds, hemp seeds, or chia seeds
- 1 tbsp nut butter of your choice
- ¼ cup avocado for extra creaminess
Sip, enjoy, and fuel your day the green way!
